Introduction

Communication is a unique interdisciplinary study which integrates linguistic, sociology, psychology, anthropology, politics, and economics. This study program examines human communication process starting from idea conceptualization, delivery, until reception of verbal and nonverbal messages. Students will learn about how to communicate effectively both directly (face-to-face) and through various medium (mass media, electronic, digital).

Graduates of Communication Program will be able to create high quality content sought by industries and media users today. By mastering theoretical framework and practical skills, graduates will be ready to work onstage and offstage. They are also taught with enterpreneurship skill so they will have more opportunities in the future.

Graduates will have capabilities to become:

  1. Intercultural and Interpersonal Communication Practition;
  2. Public Speaker;
  3. Content Creator / Influencer;
  4. Producer / Production House Owner, Etc.

Mission

Commitment in contribution to broadcasting communication science area through:

  1. Balancing theoretical knowledge and practical skill in a multidiscipline environment which enable students and institution to think, talk, write, and create strategic message about relevant ideas and issues;
  2. Facilitating recognition and appreciation of creative and talented students in broadcast journalism field;
  3. Facilitating students in enhancing industrial experience, teaching-learning process, and researching on creative and integrated Communication field to create world-class students with East Java and East Indonesia local wisdom;
  4. Moulding world class entrepreneur-minded students with high creativity and leadership skill while preserving local wisdom;
  5. Preparing professional communication science education based on global knowledge and local

Program Objective

Communication Program BINUS @Malang aims to mold world class entrepreneur-minded students with high creativity and leadership skill while preserving local wisdom. We also prepare students to have world-class quality while keeping their East Java and East Indonesia local wisdom so they may compete in this creative digital technology and global economy era.

Student Outcomes

After completing the study, graduates are:

  1. Able to analyze cases in communication scope to provide a solution with a communication science approach;
  2. Able to conduct communication research by implementing theories and concepts of communication science;
  3. Able to design solutions in communication science approach to handle communication crisis both internal, external, and community by using various media;
  4. Able to demonstrate professional ethics of communication which are appropriate with the context and relevant purposes;
  5. Able to produce ethical creative program for digital media.

Prospective Career of the Graduates

Content Writer, Social Media Specialist, Producer, Journalist, Host/Presenter, Announcer, Editor, Digital Media Consultant, Multimedia Specialist, Influencer, Production House Owner, Content Creator, etc.

Curriculum

Communication Program consists of 146 credits, divided into 8 semesters. Our 2+1+1 curriculum provides two+one years (2+1) of study on campus which will strengthen students’ academic qualities. Meanwhile, the one-year (+1) enrichment program of professional/international experience will fortify students’ soft-skills. In order to ensure the quality of our graduates, we collaborate with various national and international industries, HEI, government and non-profit organizations through guest lecturing/sharing sessions/seminars, Global Learning System (GLS), joint projects, field trips, etc. Our teaching and learning process are also supported by a modern Television laboratory, Mac Laboratory, Multimedia Laboratory. All laboratories are available in Malang Campus, Alam Sutera Campus, Anggrek Campus, and Syahdan Campus.
