BINUS University is committed to fostering a supportive environment that prioritizes the well-being of its staff through a variety of mental health programs. The university emphasizes emotional resilience by offering accessible mental health resources and training programs, which are tailored to address the needs of its diverse academic community.

Some of these initiatives include:

  1. Personal Development (PD) Fest, which covers topics such as “Mental Wellness: Developing a Positive Mindset & Managing Stress” and “Sustaining Mental Health in Challenging Situations.”
  2. Lecturer Engagement Series, focusing on “The Role of Support Systems for Mental Health.”
  3. Muscling Up on Mental Health, promoting the evidence supporting sports and physical activities as part of routine mental health treatment.

These programs are led by both internal university professionals and external experts to ensure that high-quality education and support are provided.

Additionally, BINUS University offers a Mental Health Check-Up program (an assessment to identify the symptoms of one’s mental health condition), and the Employee Assistance Program, which provides counseling services. Complementing these initiatives is the Employee Happiness Program, which features social activities like culinary events, movie nights, and reflexology sessions.

Recognizing these efforts, BINUS University has been awarded titles such as Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2023 and Most Caring Company Award 2023, reflecting its ongoing dedication to maintaining a supportive and inclusive work environment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BINUS University has a stringent smoke-free policy that prohibits smoking on campus premises for all building users. This is outlined in Rector’s Regulation No. 001/TTA KMHS-PER.UBINUS/VIII/2023, Chapter III, Section Three, which prohibits smoking using any tobacco products, whether wrapped or through devices that serve similar functions, within the campus environment and during activities representing the university outside the campus.

Additionally, the policy is reinforced in the Employee Handbook 2022, Article 42, which emphasizes that all employees must adhere to these guidelines. This policy reflects the university’s commitment to promoting a healthy and smoke-free environment for everyone.

   

 

 

 

 

Binus University is dedicated to cultivate a supportive environment that prioritizes the comprehensive well-being of both its students. Through a range of accessible mental health programs and resources, the university emphasizes the importance of emotional resilience and academic success. This commitment underscores the university’s efforts to provide essential support and resources to its diverse academic community.

As proof of supporting mental health, BINUS University actively promote some programs of good mental health for students and staffs. These programs are free of charge and it can be accessed by all students and staffs. The programs are follows:

  1. Well-being program that aims to support students who had mental health problem and/or psychological problems related to the academic and non-academic fields that can interfere with their study at Binus University.
  2. Mental Health Week. Is a Daily Encouraging Quotes​ & Workshop Series​ that occurred once a year (on October) to also celebrate World Mental Health Day.
  3. Counselling for students. Binus provides free counseling services with psychologists and other counselors with a background in Psychology.

Binus University is committed to providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care services for both students and staff, with free access to many of these services. This includes not only healthcare facilities but also valuable information and educational resources designed to enhance awareness and understanding of sexual and reproductive health.

Here are some key programs offered by BINUS:

  1. Free IVA Test: This screening, available at no cost for both students and staff, facilitates the early detection of cervical cancer, promoting preventive health measures.
  2. Research Launch by Prof. Juneman Abraham: This research focuses on “Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence Against Children for Children and Parents,” in collaboration with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI), and the Indonesian Psychological Association (HIMPSI).
  3. Partnership with RS Bunda: This specialized hospital offers a range of services related to sexual and reproductive health, including pregnancy check-ups, reproductive health consultations, and educational programs for women’s health, all accessible to the BINUS community.

 

Additionally, Binus has discussed the formation of a Pansel (Selection Panel) to Satgas PPKS (Satuan Tugas Pencegahan dan Penanganan Kekerasan Seksual) which is a Task Unit formed by the government for universities to have a unit tasked as a center to prevent and combat sexual assaults in the academic environment.

 

 

 

 

BINUS University has sports facilities, including basketball, volleyball, badminton, and futsal, which are accessible to both the BINUS Academic Community and the general public. BINUS university also shares these facilities with the local community by inviting them to participate in sparring events and friendly matches.

Here are some sports activities conducted at BINUS that are open to the general public:

  1. BINUS ONLINE FUN RUN, which is open to the public and held at BINUS@Senayan, JWC Campus.
  2. BurnCup 2023 BINUS University @Bekasi: “Art of War!”, which is an internal competition among departments and high school students in the Jabodetabek area.
  3. BEE-Cup, a basketball tournament for male and female teams from universities across Indonesia held at GOR BINUS Alam Sutera and GOR BINUS Kemanggisan.

 

Health outreach programs have been an integral part of Binus’ community engagement efforts. Collaborating closely with local communities, Binus has actively contributed to the well-being of disadvantaged individuals through various initiatives. One such endeavor involves sharing food and organizing break-fasting events for those in need across all Binus Group areas. The institution has been instrumental in providing crucial health education to villages grappling with stunting, thereby addressing a critical health issue prevalent in these communities.

Additionally, Binus has upheld its commitment to regular blood donation drives, ensuring a sustainable supply of blood that indirectly benefits not only the local populace but also refugee and immigrant communities. BINUS also collaborates with Disney through Disney VoluntEARS to enhance food security for underprivileged communities by distributing 50,000 food items.
These concerted efforts reflect our dedication to fostering a healthier and more inclusive society for all.

 

 

 

 

 

BINUS University has established collaborations with various health institutions to improve health and wellbeing outcomes at local, national, and global levels. Locally and nationally, BINUS collaborates with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) for regular blood donation drives to support the local blood supply. In a global collaboration, BINUS partners with the Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) and Kalbe Consumer Health. This event included an international seminar, workshop, and discussions related to health issues. Additionally, to ensure the health of our employees, we provide comprehensive medical benefits managed through an external administrator, Ad-medika, which oversees our healthcare services and supports employee wellbeing.
In terms of research, Binus collaborates with health institutions, research agencies, and universities from various countries, particularly in cancer research. Some research projects include:

  1. Genome-wide interaction analysis of folate and colorectal cancer risk.
  2. Analysis of the relationship between diabetes and colorectal cancer through gene-environment interactions.
  3. Investigation of genetic loci associated with body mass index and colorectal cancer risk.
    These efforts enhance understanding of cancer mechanisms and may lead to the development of effective prevention strategies.
