BINUS University provides its students with access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including education, information, and preventive support. This commitment is reflected through the establishment and active operation of the Satuan Tugas Pencegahan dan Penanganan Kekerasan Seksual (Satgas PPKS) — a dedicated task force for the prevention and handling of sexual violence on campus.

The Satgas PPKS BINUS University was formally established through a Rector’s Decree on October 17, 2023, in accordance with Ministerial Regulation No. 30 of 2021 on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education Institutions. The formation process was led by the Student Advisory and Support Center (SASC) under the supervision of Student Affairs, ensuring that the selected members are trained and competent in offering guidance, education, and assistance to students in need.

Satgas PPKS is not only a response mechanism but also a preventive educational platform. Each year, the team is introduced and socialized to all new students during the first week of orientation and welcoming sessions, ensuring that every student understands their rights, access points, and available support channels for maintaining a safe and healthy campus environment.

In February 2024, the BINUS Alumni Association (IKABINUS) organized a talk show titled “Cegah Kanker Sejak Dini” (Prevent Cancer Early), featuring Dr. Liong Pit Lin, a stage-4 cancer survivor of breast, uterine, and spinal cancers for BINUSIAN community. The session focused on raising awareness and promoting early prevention of reproductive-related cancers (breast and uterine) and encouraging healthy lifestyle practices.

In addition to its preventive role, BINUS also conducts community education initiatives through Teach For Indonesia (TFI), such as awareness programs on mental health, personal well-being, and respect in relationships. These initiatives aim to empower students with accurate information, promote respect for others, and encourage healthy interpersonal boundaries.

By integrating educational campaigns with formal support systems like Satgas PPKS, BINUS University demonstrates its strong institutional commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and health-conscious learning environment. This holistic approach ensures that all students have access to reliable sexual and reproductive health information, as well as confidential and professional support whenever needed.

BINUS University actively shares its sports facilities with local schools and the general public as part of its commitment to promoting health, fitness, and community engagement. The university’s sports infrastructure includes basketball, volleyball, badminton, and futsal courts, which are open for use by both the BINUS academic community and local residents. These facilities are regularly used for friendly matches, sparring sessions, and inter-school tournaments, strengthening the university’s connection with the wider community.

BINUS University @Bekasi annually hosts the BURNCUP, an inter-school and inter-college sports and creativity competition organized by the Academic & Student Development (ASD) Division. Since it was first held in 2018, the event has become a signature platform for BINUS students and high school participants (SMA/K/MA) across the Greater Jakarta area to showcase their talents, build friendships, and experience the vibrant campus atmosphere at BINUS @Bekasi. Through this initiative, the university not only strengthens student engagement but also opens its campus facilities to the wider community, encouraging collaboration and inclusion through sports and creative activities.

The 2024 BURNCUP featured an expanded range of competitions, including basketball, futsal, chess, and table tennis, all hosted at BINUS @Bekasi’s sports and multipurpose facilities. These venues were made accessible to both university students and visiting high school teams, allowing them to train, compete, and interact in a safe and supportive environment. By welcoming external participants, BINUS actively promotes physical fitness, sportsmanship, and positive youth interaction while reinforcing its role as an inclusive hub for local schools and young athletes. The event also offered creative competitions such as modern dance, band performances, and cake decoration, fostering a holistic spirit of teamwork and friendly competition.

In addition to traditional sports, the 2024 edition introduced digital and cultural components such as e-sports tournaments (Mobile Legends and FIFA) and Saman dance performances, reflecting the evolving nature of youth engagement and sports culture. While e-sports activities utilized indoor campus facilities and technology infrastructure, the main sports competitions relied on BINUS’s physical courts and halls, demonstrating the university’s continued commitment to sharing its sports facilities with the local community. Through BURNCUP, BINUS successfully combines athletic development, cultural expression, and community collaboration to build a healthier and more connected generation.

Through these activities and the open access to its sports facilities with local schools and the public, BINUS University demonstrates a strong commitment to build a healthy and active community.

BINUS University consistently delivers outreach programs and community projects—many led by student volunteers—to promote physical and mental health, hygiene, and overall well-being among local communities. These initiatives are conducted through Teach For Indonesia Student Community (TFISC), which serve as platforms for social contribution and sustainable community development.

One of the initiative in 2024 was “Thrive Together with TFISC”, held at BINUS @Malang in collaboration with Lavalette Hospital. This community outreach program focused on improving physical health and well-being, particularly among the elderly. Activities included a health seminar, free cholesterol checks, and joint exercise sessions (senam bersama) to encourage active aging and preventive healthcare. The event also featured a social assistance program (bantuan sosial), providing basic necessities to local residents in need. Through this collaboration, BINUS and its partners successfully combined education, medical support, and community engagement to promote healthier lifestyles.

Another community-centered initiative was the Health and Hygiene Awareness Program 2024, where student volunteers educated children and families about personal hygiene, handwashing practices, and the importance of maintaining clean environments. The program aimed to cultivate early health awareness and reduce illness through preventive education.

In addition, BINUS organized Sport4Fun 2024, a student-led sports festival promoting fitness, teamwork, and social connection through recreational activities and games. Designed for children and youth in the local community, this event fostered physical activity as a fun and inclusive way to stay healthy and active.

Complementing these outreach activities, BINUS researchers also developed a Euclidean-based decision model for logistic mobilisation in disaster areas, providing a scientific framework to accelerate the delivery of essential supplies to disaster-affected regions. This model supports emergency logistics planning and helps government relief agencies respond more effectively to the needs of refugees and displaced communities during natural disasters.

Through these combined efforts in education, research, sports, and humanitarian action, BINUS University demonstrates its strong and holistic commitment to improving community well-being and resilience in the health sector.

BINUS University is deeply committed to fostering a healthy, inclusive, and supportive workplace by actively promoting good mental health and providing free access to professional mental health support for all staff.

To strengthen emotional resilience and overall well-being, the university conducts a range of educational and support initiatives tailored to meet the diverse needs of its academic and professional community. Among these programs are:

  • Personal Development (PD) Fest, featuring topics such as “Secrets to a Healthy Life” and “Overcoming Toxic Mentality.”

  • Lecturer Engagement Series, which focuses on empowering faculty to support students’ mental well-being.

  • Muscling Up on Mental Health, which promotes physical activity as part of holistic mental health care.

These initiatives are facilitated by internal professionals and external psychologists to ensure comprehensive, evidence-based support.

In addition, BINUS provides a Mental Health Check-Up Program to help employees identify early symptoms of stress or mental health challenges, along with an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering confidential counseling sessions. The Employee Happiness Program complements these efforts through social activities such as culinary gatherings, movie nights, and reflexology sessions that nurture positive workplace relationships and reduce stress.

At BINUS @Bekasi, the Human Capital (HC) team also held the HC Health Talk on “Mastering Your Emotions: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Embrace Mood Swing” on October 30, 2024. The event—led by applied psychology expert Yuliana Sari Ariana—helped staff understand and manage their emotions, build empathy, and enhance collaboration across different emotional backgrounds in the workplace.

Through these consistent efforts, BINUS ensures that every staff member has access to mental health education, counseling, and supportive spaces—all free of charge. This commitment has earned BINUS recognition from HR Asia as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Asia (2021 & 2023) and the Most Caring Company Award 2023, reaffirming its dedication to staff well-being and mental health advocacy.

BINUS University is committed to creating a supportive academic environment that prioritizes the well-being of both students and staff. Through accessible and free programs, BINUS highlights the importance of emotional resilience as a foundation for academic and career success.

As part of this commitment, BINUS provides:

  • Well-being Program to support those experiencing psychological or academic-related challenges.

  • Free Counseling Services with professional psychologists and trained counselors.

  • Mental Health Week. Is a Daily Encouraging Quotes & Workshop Series that occurred once a year (on September) to also celebrate World Mental Health Day.

This dedication is reflected in a variety of initiatives, such as the BSLC Days 2024 Webinar on “Mental Health for Career Success: Balancing Work and Life”, Health & Well-being Day, and HC Health Talks at BINUS Bekasi, which focus on managing emotions and stress for a better quality of life.

BINUS also celebrated World Mental Health Day through the SASC Festival 2024: Discover Your Resources and Celebrating Mental Health Day , a three-day event at BINUS Kemanggisan featuring workshops, seminars, counseling corners, and well-being activities that introduced students to various support services available at the Student Advisory and Support Center (SASC).

By consistently organizing mental health programs, BINUS underscores its mission to ensure that support is not only free of charge but also easily accessible to every student and staff member. This proactive approach reaffirms BINUS’s dedication to cultivating a healthier, more resilient academic community.

BINUS University has a stringent smoke-free policy that prohibits smoking on campus premises for all building users. This is outlined in Rector’s Regulation No. 001/TTA KMHS-PER.UBINUS/VIII/2023, Chapter III, Section Three, which prohibits smoking using any tobacco products, whether wrapped or through devices that serve similar functions, within the campus environment and during activities representing the university outside the campus.

Additionally, the policy is reinforced in the Employee Handbook 2022, Article 42, which emphasizes that all employees must adhere to these guidelines. This policy reflects the university’s commitment to promoting a healthy and smoke-free environment for everyone.

BINUS University actively collaborates with local, national, and international institutions to promote health and well-being through education, research, and community engagement.
