BINUS University and TIBCO Collaborates with Aim to Boost Data Talent Pool in Indonesia
Jakarta, Indonesia, 09 October, 2018 – TIBCO Software Inc., a global leader in integration, API management, and analytics, today announced its collaboration with BINUS University to identify a path to expand data analytics capabilities and knowledge for students in Indonesia.
TIBCO, BINUS University, and its partner, PT PhinCon, an IT consulting company (part of Phintraco Group), are actively engaged in efforts to pave the way to jointly engage students through internships, career development, and advanced analytics projects. This collaboration aims to help the students develop competencies in data analytics and equip them with data skillsets essential for their careers after graduation.
The collaboration is intended to identify means for preparing students from the School of Information Systems to meet the demands of the digital era. Potential arrangements include hands-on practice for students with TIBCO tools, along with support for various data analytic techniques, to understand and predict customer behaviour. The collaboration also looks to equip students with relevant data skillsets through guest lectures, seminars, networking sessions with experts in the data analytics field, and relevant training modules.
“Businesses have started to realise the power of data analytics. It shapes and transforms the way they engage with their customers to remain competitive, particularly in Indonesia, one of the fastest growing consumer markets in the world,” said Melissa Ries, general manager, Asia Pacific and Japan, TIBCO. “Businesses need to adapt to rising demands and address how the digital landscape is reshaping consumer behaviour, shopping habits, and decision-making processes. We want to prepare students for the reality of the business world and empower them, with a combination of our technology and expertise, to apply these concepts in a practical, data-driven manner.”
Indonesia’s population of more than 250 million is growing and swiftly urbanizing. The expanding middle class creates opportunity for businesses to engage potential consumers through digital platforms, providing a more personalised customer experience.
“Digital technology is playing a key role in Indonesia’s economic development, yet the growth is delayed by a wide data and technology skills gap,” said Dr. Yohannes Kurniawan, S. Kom, S.E., MMSI Dean, School of Information Systems, BINUS University. “Close collaboration between universities and companies in the industry is needed to help develop talent. We are excited about this collaboration, which aims to ensure that our students are well equipped with the right skillsets to support businesses in the future.”
“At PT PhinCon, we realize that grooming top-of-the-line consultants is done not only through experience, but also collaborations. PhinCon provides a platform for potential consultants to learn and grow their knowledge through involvement in an internship program and various career opportunities, especially for the role of an analytical consultant,” said Kelvin Gonatha, president director, Phintraco Group. “With TIBCO’s best-in-breed technology and collaboration with BINUS — the university that has always impressed us with the best IT consultants — we will continue pursuing our dream of being a proud, local Indonesian consultant organization.”
