Mandarin Workshop

On September 28th, 2024, the Digital Language Learning Center (DLLC) of BINUS @Bandung organized a workshop designed for BINUS students to enhance their Mandarin skills and deepen their understanding of Mandarin culture. Titled “Speak Mandarin Fluently: Unlock New Opportunities,” the workshop emphasized the importance of practical, conversational fluency in Mandarin, specifically tailored for university students. Unlike traditional language classes that focus primarily on grammar and vocabulary, this workshop prioritized real-world communication, aiming to help students gain confidence in speaking Mandarin in everyday situations.

This workshop was particularly beneficial for students looking to participate in exchange programs or pursue job opportunities that require Mandarin proficiency. By fostering fluency and cultural insight, the workshop aimed to prepare students for success in an increasingly Mandarin-speaking world. It also provided a platform for students to engage in information exchange, open discussions, and gain new skills and experiences related to Mandarin culture and language. The two-hour workshop included a Q&A session, discussions, and interactive practice.

Mandarin Workshop

The workshop featured two speakers:

  • Jesslyn Dwiputri Herman, a graduate of the Chinese Literature program at Brawijaya University in 2021, who is currently pursuing a degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at Tianjin Foreign Studies University. She has worked as a teaching assistant at Brawijaya University and as a Public Relations Staff member for the Indonesian Student Association in China.
  • Huang Gang, a student majoring in Indonesian at Tianjin Foreign Studies University, who studied abroad at UNY during his junior year.

Additionally, 5 Beelingua Mentors participated as committee members, helping to organize the event and ensure its success. The workshop attracted more than 400 participants from BINUS Bandung, Greater Jakarta, Alam Sutera, Bekasi, Semarang, Malang, Senayan, and BINUS Online.
