The Covid-19 pandemic requires us to keep our distance from one individual to another because the transmission of the virus is fast, especially the new variant viruses that already exist in Indonesia. As a result, Indonesian educational institutions from kindergarten to university have been instructed to stay at home and conduct online education to slow the development and transmission of the Covid 19 virus beginning in March 2020. However, there is an excellent master plan to implement a hybrid learning program throughout all educational institutions so that students can quickly experience the atmosphere of learning in the classroom and the pleasant atmosphere of friendship that has been restricted to laptop screens.

Hybrid Learning is a learning method of online learning and offline learning that is held for students to conform with preparing themselves during the pandemic. This learning method is doing by dividing students into two groups, that the first group learns online by doing virtually at their home, and the second group joins the offline learning by face-to-face interaction with their lecturers in the classroom. Although applying hybrid learning in the school also requires following the health protocol rules and campus rules that have been made, it is still one solution to the educational problem caused by pandemic Covid-19.

Moreover, several positive impacts can be obtained from the application of hybrid learning for learning activities in the future. First, the impact obtained is that the study time and classroom will become more flexible than when studying face-to-face as usual. Here the students and lecturers will undoubtedly create a new experience in learning activities because everything is adjusted by various student abilities, conditions, and existing situations. For example, when a lecturer teaches online through a platform, the system will automatically be recorded so that the students will not have to worry about participating in learning activities later on. They can easily access the material taught in the school system. Second, it reduces excessive laziness, especially when working on and submitting assignments with tight deadlines, that students are always required not to collect assignments at a tight time. It applies not only when collecting assignments but also when taking exams and the lecturers who always give a briefing not to submit it the day before the deadline determined by the system to avoid or prevent the inability to upload the assignment or exam file. Because if the students are late, then there is no dispensation whatsoever, that is the reason. Therefore, this is very positive to increase the students’ sense of responsibility and self-awareness regarding the assignments or exams given by the teacher. Third, the positive impact of the hybrid learning method is that each student can still socialize and interact with their friends and teachers. Maybe indeed, some related students are not familiar with indirect interaction or socialization. However, this is a very positive impact because later, it will be helping the students to learn to socialize and interact with others in different ways.

On the other hand, some obstacles need to be overcome in applying blended learning. First, the online learning session depends on the condition of the internet network, both from the lecturers and the participating students. So, that sometimes learning activities cannot be smooth and disrupted. For example, it could happen while teaching the lecturers to leave the zoom class, or from the students who suddenly left while learning and class discussions were taking place to not rejoin because the internet network was unstable, which made them left behind. Materials taught or late for class. Second, lecturers and students must adapt to the new learning method and follow a new teaching curriculum, including lesson plans, techniques, assignments, and evaluations. Finally, since the covid-19 virus seems to be more volatile and increases height, all elements must prepare everything before doing blended learning to avoid the possibility of worsening. It does not rule out the possibility because the hybrid learning method says there is a time to carry out face-to-face teaching and learning activities to come to school, in which there are interactions and crowds.

Despite the pros and cons of hybrid learning, it should be implemented to overcome the education problem tight now that online learning cannot cover all education aspects. The school must get ready and prepare everything needed to follow the health protocol at the school environment, such as the availability of hygiene facilities, handwashing facilities with running water equipped with soap, clean toilets, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants for the in-class person. Schools also should prepare an online system for the students who attend the class from their home. As Mr. Nadiem says, it is better to risk change than not to try to change at all!
