THE - 2022

In accordance with a stringent smoke-free policy, smoking is strictly prohibited within the campus premises for all building users at Binus University. Under this policy, students are bound by the regulations outlined in SK Rektor No. 1426 2016, Code of Conduct in Campus, Verse 9(b). Similarly, employees are required to adhere to the guidelines specified in the Employee Handbook 2022, Article 42, emphasizing the institution’s firm stance on promoting a healthy and smoke-free environment for all.

Binus University is dedicated to cultivating a supportive environment that prioritizes the comprehensive well-being of both its students and staff. Through a range of accessible mental health programs and resources, the university emphasizes the importance of emotional resilience and academic success. This commitment underscores the university’s efforts to provide essential support and resources to its diverse academic community.

As proof of supporting mental health, Binus provide programs for students and staffs. These programs are free of charge and it can be accessed by all students and staffs. The programs are follows:
1. Well-being program that aims to support students who had mental health problem and/or psychological problems related to the academic and non-academic fields that can interfere with their study at Binus University.
2. Mental Health Month. Is a Daily Encouraging Quotes​ & Workshop Series​ that occurred once a year (on October) to also celebrate World Mental Health Day.
3. Counselling for students Employee Assistant Program (EAP). This is a counselling session with Physiatrist and Psychologist​. The implementation is by agreement between the Employee and Psychologist and Psychiatrist.

In addition, Binus employees also receive medical benefits, including examinations of mental disorders related to mental health conditions (As written in the Medical handbook Page 3, point 8)

Binus University is committed to promoting comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care services for its students. These services encompass not only access to healthcare facilities but also extend to informative and educational resources. Through various organized events across different study programs, the university ensures that students have ample opportunities to access relevant information and receive necessary education on sexual and reproductive health. This proactive approach underscores our dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that prioritizes the holistic well-being of its students.

Additionally, Binus has discussed the formation of a Pansel (Selection Panel) to Satgas PPKS (Satuan Tugas Pencegahan dan Penanganan Kekerasan Seksual) which is a Task Unit formed by the government for universities to have a unit tasked as a center to prevent and combat sexual assaults in the academic environment.

Facilitating a culture of active engagement and community involvement, Binus has established an array of well-equipped sports facilities, including basketball courts, volleyball courts, badminton courts, and futsal pitches. These state-of-the-art amenities are not only accessible to the Binus Academic Community but also open for use by the general public. Going beyond mere accessibility, Binus actively promotes inclusivity by extending the use of these sports facilities to the local community. Through initiatives such as friendly matches and shared sports events, Binus encourages interaction and collaboration, fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among individuals from various backgrounds. This emphasis on shared resources and collaborative sports activities exemplifies Binus’ commitment to promoting a healthy and interconnected community through sports and recreational pursuits.

Health outreach programs have been an integral part of Binus’ community engagement efforts. Collaborating closely with local communities, Binus has actively contributed to the well-being of disadvantaged individuals through various initiatives. One such endeavor involves sharing food and organizing break-fasting events for those in need across all Binus Group areas. The institution has been instrumental in providing crucial health education to villages grappling with stunting, thereby addressing a critical health issue prevalent in these communities. Additionally, Binus has upheld its commitment to regular blood donation drives, ensuring a sustainable supply of blood that indirectly benefits not only the local populace but also refugee and immigrant communities. These concerted efforts reflect our dedication to fostering a healthier and more inclusive society for all.

Binus has established a collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to conduct regular blood donations as a contrubution to the crucial need for blood supply in the region. Binus also partners with local governments to implement the PHBS (Pola Hidup Bersih dan Sehat) program. The program’s primary objcetive is to raise awareness about health and hygiene, equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge to maintain clean and healthy lifestyles that align with established health standards. In addition to local partnerships, Binus engages in research collaborations with various renowned health institutions, including the Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Kalbe Institute, fostering an environment of academic exchange and advancements in the field of healthcare. As an effort to ensure health of all of our employees we provide comprehensive medical benefits through an external administrator called Admedika. Admedika facilitates the adminisitration and management of the university’s healthcare services, ensuring the well-being of our employees.
Binus has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to promoting a culture of health and well-being, not just within its own community but also in the larger societal context.
