Certified Internship Track
Internship is a program organized by an institution or company in which there are various guidance to do work in a certain position. This program is usually designed to prepare someone to have a skillset that can be used as a career support. Before going to the real world of work, apprenticeship can be a place to train mentally, improve skills, apply knowledge gained in the classroom learning process. Internship is also often referred to as work practice programs. Therefore, an internship or apprenticeship is a valuable experience in the process of pursuing a career, self-development and improving abilities. There are many advantages to be gained by participating in an internship.
Following are the benefits of attending the Internship:
1. Get a Real Picture of the World of Work
Students who have never entered the world of work usually have an ideal picture of the job they want to get, position, salary, and work activities. However, do you know that often the reality of work life that is obtained is not the same as imagined and expected. By undergoing an internship, you can learn to be aware of the gap between expectations and reality that must be lived. In the apprenticeship process you are not burdened with full responsibility like regular employees, but you can see and learn the process and work rhythm of permanent employees. This can later minimize work stress when you actually start to become a permanent employee.
2. Putting into practice what you get in college
Schools and campuses are places where we gain knowledge. Material is obtained through what the lecturer conveys, reading books, reviewing literature, and doing assignments. The knowledge obtained from various courses is certainly very large in number and will become self-capital to then be used in real life in the world of work. By participating in an internship, this moment is your opportunity to practice the knowledge you have.
3. Improving Soft-Skills Ability
Soft-Skills are life skills in interacting with other individuals. This skill is obtained not only by reading and memorizing it. Soft-skills development requires hands-on practice. There are various kinds of soft-skills that you can get and hone when you take an internship, namely communication skills, adaptation, social-awareness, teamwork, time management, initiative, leadership, negotiation, problem solving, collaboration, critical & creative thinking, controlling emotions, networking, public speaking, stress management, resilience, etc.
4. Adding Relationships That Can Provide Recommendations
Entering the world of work will automatically make you establish relationships and interact in a professional manner. Relationships are one of the things needed to build a successful career or business. This is because humans definitely need the help of others in life. By having good relationships, we can share information and support each other regarding work and careers. In addition, when co-workers or superiors are satisfied and happy with your work or your personality, they will not be ashamed to provide recommendations to other co-workers.
5. Completing a CV for the Work Experience Section
Fresh graduates often feel confused the first time they make their own resume or CV when applying for a job. They are surprised when they realize that their CV looks less attractive because it doesn’t have much to attach and display in it. By having internship experience, you can make your CV look more weighty because it displays work experience, projects that have been completed, or achievement of work targets. Having work experience can be a separate assessment for recruiters. Because candidates with work experience can be judged to have learned and have some soft-skill abilities, understand work values.
