“Lwo Lwang Wentar” Batik Video Profiling by Yugie Meidian Benedicto

In this final project, Yugie Meidian Benedicto, designed a profile video for Batik LWO Lwang Wentar. The primary objective of this project is to strengthen the visual identity of one of Blitar Regency’s featured batik brands while highlighting local cultural heritage. By combining a cinematic approach with humanistic storytelling, the project showcases the rich history, deep philosophies, and intricate craft behind each motif, elevating local traditional artistry into a compelling visual narrative.
The creative direction centers on the core concept of “Unveiling the Unseen Identity,” aiming to introduce the cultural significance of Batik LWO Lwang Wentar to a broader audience. Inspired by local historical elements such as the reliefs of Penataran Temple and Sawentar Temple, the video captures the complete batik-making process—from initial pattern design to wax application and dyeing. Through carefully chosen cinematography, including detailed close-up shots of artisans at work and cinematic camera movements, the film conveys the emotional and artistic depth embedded in every piece of fabric.
To ensure a cohesive and high-quality output, the project followed a structured production pipeline comprising pre-production, production, and post-production phases. A distinct visual identity was established using a warm color palette—highlighted by cultural gold, deep black, and neutral grays—complemented by elegant typography. The post-production phase utilized professional color grading in DaVinci Resolve Studio 20, resulting in a polished, classic, and cinematic aesthetic that effectively communicates the brand’s identity and preserves local cultural heritage.
