DESIGNPHORIA – School of Design BINUS @Malang Final Project Exhibition

BINUS University School of Design held “Designphoria,” an art exhibition showcasing all students’ works for their final exams, which was held from January 31, 2025, to February 2, 2025. DESIGNPHORIA is one of the key agendas at BINUS @Malang, organized by the School of Design and the BINUS Marketing Team to introduce the campus facilities and learning environment that could be experienced through a series of events, Open House. This exhibition is not merely a platform to highlight the School of Design’s presence but also an opportunity for students to showcase their talents to other study programs and high school students from across Malang that’s attending this exhibition.

Attended by students from the Visual Communication Design, Interior Design, and Interactive Design and Technology departments, the exhibition encourages participants to apply their skills while incorporating both technological advancements and local content. Local content serves as a means to elevate regional values by blending cultural and traditional elements with modern technology trends. This approach ensures that heritage and innovation coexist in every work created.

One of the most iconic works in this exhibition comes from Streaming Imaging Art Science by Yugi Median and Eligius Tama. This piece features a 2D photograph of a woman whose facial expressions can change from smiling to sad. It serves as a perfect example of the application of cutting-edge technology, where an ordinary photograph appears to move and transform. Additionally, many streaming illustration works in the exhibition showcase a creative response by blending local content with international superhero narratives, demonstrating an innovative fusion of cultural elements and modern storytelling.

Previously, the exhibition was held at Malang Creative Center; however, it has now been relocated to the campus lobby. This decision aims to enhance public awareness of the campus and its facilities while also optimizing the campus’s own potential.

It is hoped that this exhibition will serve as both a source of inspiration and a benchmark for future academic projects, enabling School of Design students to continuously refine their skills. In the long term, this initiative is expected to enhance their visibility to major industries, thereby increasing the employability of graduates and facilitating a higher absorption rate into the workforce immediately after graduation from Bina Nusantara University.
