On April 2022, LC lecturers conducted a community service in the form of online seminar. The sharing session invited teachers from Bandung, addressing gamified activities for teaching speaking. Improving the ability to speak English is a main goal in English classes at school. Speaking activities are often combined with other language skill-building activities, such as listening or writing, so that students can learn the targeted vocabulary through various activities. Therefore, it is necessary to have a teaching strategy that allows all students to actively speak in English. In this community service, the topic was ‘mission game’ to be applied in speaking classes (but can also be applied in writing skills). Speaking games are fun activities where students can freely speak in English according to the given theme and vocabulary targeted. One of its main goals is to present activities that are not only meaningful but also fun. Mission games involve a series of games that can be applied in the classroom according to the targeted skills. Teachers can use these games for vocabulary learning, language structure, or simply speaking practice.

After the session, the teachers were asked to practice the scenario and experience it first-hand. They were excited to apply it in their classrooms. All in all, using game is always a good choice for teaching English skills; when dealing with children or teenagers, games can bring both fun and knowledge. It can induce their critical thinking while keeping them busy learning.
