Binus University provides comprehensive support services for students and scholarship recipients which includes, mentoring, access to study resources, academic and non-academic counseling, and services for disabled individuals. These services are designed to assist students in overcoming obstacles and realizing their academic aspirations. As an example, Binus’ Engagement Program SASC direction towards ADIK scholarship beneficiaries (which includes children from Papua, 3T areas, and children of immigrant workers in Indonesia).

Binus University’s commitment to assist students from low-income families is shown by our provision of support for essentials such as food, housing, and transportation. This ensures that financial constraints do not block the students’ academic goals. For example, Binus offers scholarships to students from low-income background that are willing to join the basketball group. Scholarship beneficiaries receive benefits such as free housing, transportation, and educational funding.

Binus University remains dedicated to supporting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Binus targets for the completion of students’ studies which we actualize by providing scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in regular programs. Additionally, Binus sets targets for scholarship beneficiaries and regularly increase the number of beneficiaries every year.

Binus has adopted a comprehensive policy aimed at addressing poverty across all dimensions. Through its Community Development Academic (CDA), we remain dedicated to fostering community development and promoting interdisciplinary collaborations. One of our key initiatives, the “Binus Bangun Desa” program, serves as a platform for the university’s CDA to contribute to the development and growth of over 27 villages spread across various regions in Indonesia.
Under this program, the CDA of Binus actively supports the advancement of these communities in diverse developmental areas, including economic development, social welfare, and sustainable environmental practices. This multifaceted approach demonstrates our commitment to alleviating poverty and promoting holistic development within Indonesian communities.

As part of our commitment to enhancing access to fundamental services, Binus implements several programs aimed at facilitating access to essential resources. In 2022, the university organized the “Program Gizi Nasional,” targeting the reduction of stunting rates in three villages located in Banten, Indonesia. This initiative is geared towards improving the overall health and well-being of the communities. Furthermore, we actively support local start-up businesses (UMKMs) in Semarang, assisting them in the digitalization of their operations. This digital transformation is intended to foster the accelerated growth and expansion of these businesses, ultimately contributing to the development and prosperity of the local economy.

BINUS University provides financial assistance through networking and fundraising for local community to expand their start-up businesses (UMKM). Together with Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) of Central Java, BINUS University held an event to gather start-up business owners and investors (startup-investor networking event). Other event in 2022, BINUS was helping local community by providing any tools for production in the Pinang District.

BINUS University’s Community Development Academic (CDA) extends support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through various developmental initiatives. One such program is the “Konsultasi untuk Desa dan UMKM,” which focuses on training and developing business skills for these enterprises. Additionally, BINUS University conducts free online seminars and training sessions, aiding in the enhancement of UMKM businesses. These sessions are designed not only to improve production strategies but also to refine promotional techniques, financial management, and distribution processes.
