Jakarta, 23 September 2022 – What is the best way to unwind on Friday afternoon? Plenty! This time we are serving something special. Two prominent figures in the film industry came to Joseph Widodo Center (JWC) Campus – BINUS University (16/09) to share their insight on Asian cinema and co-production.
Ekky Imanjaya, S.S., M.Hum., M.A., Ph.D., Lecturer of Film Department at BINUS University, and Mani Man, Deputy General Manager of MM2 Entertainment Hong Kong, spent an afternoon on co-production that can boost the film industry within Asia.
“This can expand the reach of the movie beyond their country. Imagine the possibilities!” said Ekky.
He also shared the history of the Indonesian film industry in the 70s to showcase the richness of other Asian countries through shared roots in language.
During the session, Manny highlighted the importance of forming co-production forums that will catapult filmmakers to showcase their work and create a shared understanding of culture across the region.
“Not only can we tell more stories (through the co-production but this is important to highlight the richness of culture within the region.”
