The Model-Making Strategy

According to Henry Mintzberg in the book Wheelen and Hunger (2012:26), the three most typical approaches, or modes, of strategic decision making are:
1.Entrepreneurial Mode
In this model of leadership (CEO) is actively looking for new opportunities so that the leaders, who have the power in business, willing to take high risk in times of crisis rather than just relying on a safe alternative. This model is typically used by companies that are young or small with the main goal is growth.
2. Adaptive Mode
This model is characterized by the manufacture of the strategy in response to the emergence of a problem, so the maker of the strategy should be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic and complex environment.
3. Planning Mode
This model focuses on a systematic analysis carried out based on analysis of costs and benefits. Long-term strategic planning is made at the environment are in a stable state. The purpose of the company, which adheres to this model, is the efficiency and growth.
