On May 15, 2024, a unique workshop was about to unfold at BINUS University as part of BIFEST 2024. The “Workshop Kaulinan Daerah” event was not just another activity but a significant effort to connect students with their cultural roots. Spearheaded by M. Zaini Alif, the founder of Komunitas Hong, this initiative aimed to revive the charm of traditional games and integrate them into modern educational and creative practices.
Dr. Zaini, a decorated cultural innovator and educator, had dedicated his life to preserving Indonesia’s rich heritage. Liputan 6 Awards SCTV award him as “Inspirasi Indonesia”, his journey was nothing short of extraordinary. The workshop promised to offer students an immersive experience, blending tradition with gamification.
The day started with an enthusiastic crowd from diverse majors. Students from Creativepreneurship, Computer Science, Interior Design, and Digital Business Innovation gathered, eager to participate. The program kicked off with an engaging introduction by the MC, setting the tone for the day’s activities.
Dr. Zaini’s session on the essence of traditional games and their relevance in today’s world left the audience in awe.
