Ahmad Syamil earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and an MBA from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas, USA. He then received a scholarship from the United States to pursue a PhD degree from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, USA. His PhD dissertation was a finalist in the Best Dissertation Competition organized by the Academy of International Business (AIB), with participants from around the world.
He lived in the USA for 25 years and his last position was Associate Professor at Arkansas State University. One of his research topics was product development in global companies, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Chrysler, and Toyota.
At Binus, he served as the Dean of the Master of Management Program at Binus Business School (BBS) in Jakarta, as well as the Dean of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at BBS Jakarta. He actively publishes in international journals and presents at prestigious conferences. Additionally, he works as a trainer for leading companies in Indonesia.
Ahmad Syamil holds numerous international professional certifications, including from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), American Production and Inventory Management (APICS) / Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), and the Project Management Office – Global Alliance (PMO – GA).
He has been interviewed and featured in various media outlets, including Voice of America (VOA), Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), Tempo magazine, Tribune newspaper (owned by Kompas Gramedia), Pikiran Rakyat (Bandung), SWA magazine, Warta Ekonomi magazine, and others.
