4. Sustainable Agro-Tourism in Labuan Bajo

In March 2025, BINUS University collaborated with local farmers in Labuan Bajo to develop sustainable agro-tourism by integrating organic farming, environmental education, and tourism development. The programme provided farmers with technical training in organic land management, including environmentally friendly practices to maintain soil fertility and reduce the use of harmful chemicals, as well as training in digital marketing and agricultural product development. It also introduced the concept of educational tourism, enabling visitors to learn how sustainable farming practices can support environmental conservation while creating economic opportunities for local communities.

Through these initiatives, BINUS University contributes to community capacity-building, sustainable destination management, and environmental conservation, helping local communities and stakeholders pursue tourism development that balances economic opportunities with long-term environmental sustainability.
