Binus University actively participates in policy-making at local, regional, national, and global levels to implement programs and policies aimed at ending poverty in all its dimensions.

  1. High-Level Seminar themed “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”: The Finance Program of BINUS University was invited to participate in this event, providing an opportunity to discuss with ASEAN leaders, particularly the Governors of Central Banks, regarding global economic growth and resilience. The Governor of Bank Indonesia, Mr. Perry Warjiyo, emphasized the importance of having a strong and credible economic policy framework to address multidimensional challenges such as climate change, food security, downstream processing, and digitalization. To support this policy framework, a robust combination of fiscal and monetary policies is necessary, along with a systematic approach to managing macroeconomic policies and structural reforms. This will aid in addressing challenges and accelerating economic growth in the ASEAN region.
  2. Participation in FEKDI 2023: The university engages in events like FEKDI 2023, which focuses on fostering synergies between innovation in the digital finance sector and economic recovery policies. By promoting financial inclusion and technological advancement, Binus University aims to enhance access to financial services, ultimately addressing poverty and improving living standards. Through these initiatives, Binus University demonstrates its commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders to develop effective policies and programs that target poverty alleviation and promote sustainable development.
  3. Digitalization of Bintan’s Economy: In partnership with UMRAH, Binus University has contributed research findings that inform local policy decisions. This collaboration has resulted in the adoption of a policy framework by the local government, specifically in establishing a Regional Promotion and Tourism Agency. This demonstrates how our academic research can directly influence regional economic development and support poverty alleviation efforts.
  4. Tourism Development Initiatives: Through the Community Development Academic (CDA) unit, the university collaborates with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and local tourism groups to enhance tourism in Pasir Panjang Village. This initiative focuses on strengthening local tourism, promoting cultural events, and creating job opportunities, which collectively contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction.
  5. BINUS also plays a role in policy-making through the BINUS Bangun Desa program. Under this program, Binus actively supports the advancement of these communities in diverse developmental areas, including economic development, social welfare, and sustainable environmental practices. This multifaceted approach demonstrates our commitment to alleviating poverty and promoting holistic development within Indonesian communities. One of the example is Kampung Batik.
