Education for SDGs in the wider community
BINUS University, through its Teach For Indonesia (TFI) and Community Development teams, has consistently engaged in outreach programs aimed at enriching local communities, displaced individuals, and alumni.
- Outreach Programs for Local Communities and Displaced People
TFI regularly hosts tutoring events where student volunteers offer educational support to students and displaced individuals. Complementing these efforts, the KMB Dhammavaddhana annually organizes the One Million Help initiative, which aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on SDG 4: Quality Education. One Million Help 2023 aimed to improve education for orphans in Tangerang by raising donations to purchase learning supplies and developing English learning modules. Volunteers, after passing a selection process, prepared and taught these modules in three orphanages, using engaging methods such as quizzes and games. The initiative successfully enhanced the children’s English skills and confidence, achieving its goals through collaboration with donors, media partners, and participants, and leaving a lasting impact on the children’s education.
On June 20, 2023, BINUS conducted educational outreach through the “MACAROON” Community Service (P2M) program by HIMFOODTECH. This initiative focused on teaching children at Al-Amanah Nusantara Orphanage about healthy eating, emphasizing balanced nutrition and the importance of vitamins. Such education is vital for displaced groups, including children in orphanages, helping them make informed food choices that support their growth and well-being.
- Social Innovation Camps
BINUS Business School (BBS) Social Innovation Camp connects alumni with NGOs, enabling them to mentor and train participants, fostering social impact through community engagement.
- Alumni Support and Seminars
BINUS University actively supports its alumni through events like the “Business F&B: How To and The Recipe of Success” seminar. Organized by IKATAN KELUARGA BINA NUSANTARA (IKA BINUS) and the Alumni Relations Office (ARO), this event featured expert speakers who provided valuable insights on branding, growing food and beverage businesses, and exploring funding options for Sharia-compliant businesses. These efforts strengthen alumni connections and promote professional development.
