Collaboration with NGOs for SDGs
BINUS University collaborates with various NGOs to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Notable examples include:
- Disney 100 VoluntEARS Event.
BINUS partnered with some NGOs (Rise Against Hunger and Hope Worldwide Indonesia) for this event, where volunteers packaged 50,000 food items to support food security for underprivileged communities. This initiative aligns with SDG goals such as Zero Hunger and Reduced Inequalities, showcasing the university’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement
2. Social Innovation Camp
This is a mandatory program for students in the Master of Management (MM) program, integrating with the Design Thinking course. Through this initiative, students engage in practical applications of innovation and empathy, essential skills for addressing social issues. The camp encourages participants to focus on user needs, aligning with SDG goals related to innovation and responsible consumption.
3. Research Programmes
BINUS University, in collaboration with the Research Center for Cooperative, Corporation, and People’s Economy at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), contributed to the study titled “Green Human Resource Management and Green Supply Chain Management on Sustainable Performance of Nickel Mining Companies in Indonesia.” This research explores how a green economy, viewed through an Islamic perspective, can address economic and environmental challenges. The study focuses on nickel mining in North Maluku, surveying 80 workers and using structural equation modeling to demonstrate that sustainability performance is driven by Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) and Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) practices.
4. Curriculum Development
The Food Technology Department at BINUS University held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on August 1, 2023, to review the curriculum with faculty members, students, alumni, and stakeholders, including representatives from PATPI, GAPMMI, BRIN, PT. Mane Indonesia, and PT. Heinz ABC Indonesia. The event focused on aligning the curriculum with industry and academic needs for the Food Technology program.
