BINUS University recently hosted another exciting event, Design Thinking Showcase, highlighting the innovation and creativity of students from the Master in Management Business Learning (MMBL) program at BINUS Business School. Held at the BINUS International JWC Campus, the event brought together student teams who presented solutions designed not just for business success, but also for positive societal impact—especially in alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Turning Ideas into Impact
In the spirit of design thinking, the students used empathy-driven approaches to identify real-world problems and develop human-centered business ideas to solve them. This year’s showcase featured a wide range of innovations—from healthy food catering and financial wellness apps to fitness and diet tracking platforms. Each project was carefully crafted to meet specific needs of target communities, ensuring both practicality and sustainability.
Pitching for Purpose
Students had the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of a panel of expert judges. All teams delivered commendable presentations, and three teams were selected as top winners:
“Nutri Alert helps people check nutritional content of food products and see whether they’re legally registered with BPOM and certified halal by MUI,” said Rian Eka Prasetya, representative of the winning team. “It’s about helping Indonesians make healthier, safer food choices.”
What the Judges Looked For
According to the judging panel, standout projects demonstrated a clear process of identifying real problems through situational analysis and empathy. Key evaluation points included:

The Design Thinking Showcase is more than a competition—it’s a testament to how innovation, when guided by empathy and purpose, can drive meaningful change. As students align their business ideas with SDGs, they’re not only preparing for the market but also shaping a better future for communities.
