BINUS UNIVERSITY Breaks into Global 101-200 in THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026

Jakarta, 25 June 2026 – Continued work to integrate sustainability initiatives across academic programs, research projects, campus practices, and community-based action has raised BINUS University’s position to the global 101–200 band in THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 (previously known as THE Impact Rankings), up significantly from 301–400 last year.

Moving from 1001+ in 2022 to the global Top 200 reflects a five-year process of building more connected and measurable sustainability action. Closer collaboration across internal units has helped align programs and initiatives, while broader engagement with government, international organizations, industry, and communities has brought diverse expertise and perspectives into the work. Achieving a score of over 90 in this area shows how these collective efforts, together with more systematic impact documentation, have strengthened the university’s overall performance.

“Our position in the 101–200 range globally in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 is the outcome of sustained work to make sustainability part of how BINUS learns, research, collaborates, serves communities, and grows as an institution. Through our Catur Dharma, we continue to connect education, research, community engagement, and academic development with the challenges that matter beyond campus. In our 45th year, this recognition reminds us that becoming ‘a world-class university fostering and empowering society in building and serving the nation’ is not an aspiration we pursue alone. It is a shared direction, brought forward every day by Binusians through ideas, collaboration, and real contributions to society,” Rector Nelly emphasized.

We have also strengthened its sustainability journey through wider global engagement. After becoming an official member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) in 2023, BINUS joined the Sustainability Impact Network this year. As THE’s global higher education community focuses on sustainable development, the network creates further opportunities to exchange good practices, learn from peer institutions, build new collaborations, and strengthen participation in the rankings.

This upward trend has been supported by the continued development of research, innovation, and community empowerment programs. Drawing on BINUS\’s academic strengths in technology, business, and sustainable education, we continue to explore practical solutions that respond to social and environmental challenges while creating wider benefits for society.

Our strong performance was also seen across SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, with scores over 78 in each area. These results placed BINUS University at No. 47 globally for SDG 1, No. 80 for SDG 15, and No. 78 for SDG 17 and reflected our ongoing efforts to make sustainability relevant to people’s everyday lives, starting with wider access to education. Through scholarship opportunities for talented students from Indonesia and around the world, we continue to support high-potential youth and students who may face barriers to pursuing higher education.

Across campuses, Binusians are also being encouraged to rethink how they consume, dispose of waste, and care for the environment. Working with local communities and government, the University has strengthened waste-management efforts in and around its campuses while continuing to promote waste reduction and responsible consumption through collective action.

“Sustainability is not only about protecting the environment, but also about ensuring that people can grow, contribute, and benefit from progress. Through digital innovation and information technology, we continue to develop solutions that can create real value for society,” added Rector Nelly.

With this progress, BINUS University moves forward with renewed purpose to support the Sustainable Development Goals and create greater impact for society through sustainable education, research, and innovation, as part of its 45-year journey of co-creating the intelligent society.
