Jakarta, July 25, 2023 – BINUS University, in collaboration with Padjadjaran University, proudly announces the launch of three innovative double-degree master’s programs – Master of Digital Economy, Master of Digital Business Fisheries, and Master of Marine Digital Technology.
The launch ceremony of these three double-degree master’s programs was held at the Rectorate Building of the Padjadjaran University in Jatinangor, West Java on Tuesday (25/7/2023). The event was attended by the Rector of Padjadjaran University, Prof. Dr. Rina Indiastuti, S.E., M.SIE and our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Harjanto Prabowo, M.M.
“BINUS University is proud to collaborate with Padjadjaran University to offer three double-degree master’s programs. It is a follow-up to the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities and reflects our commitment to meeting the societal demand for digital-based education,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Harjanto Prabowo, M.M.
Prof. Rina Indiastuti also appreciated the launch of these three double-degree Master’s programs.
“We hope this program will help strengthen the government’s programs in the blue economy sector by preparing our human resources in the fisheries and maritime fields. These human resources will have the vital knowledge in fisheries and digital transformation that is taking place in the sector,” said her.
The collaboration between BINUS University and Padjadjaran University is driven by the increasing consumer demand in the digital economy, fisheries, and marine conservation sectors. This demand has been accelerated by the digital transformation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At BINUS University, these three double-degree master’s programs will be coordinated by the BINUS Graduate Program. Students participating in these programs will earn two degrees simultaneously, providing enhanced career opportunities upon graduation. Here are the highlights of each program:
Master of Digital Economy
This dual-degree program, which lasts for four years, combines applied economics and data science from the field of information technology. Students will delve into machine learning, deep learning, the Internet of Things, macro and micro perspectives of the digital economy, and digital industry policies. Upon completing their thesis, graduates will receive the degrees of M.E. (Master of Economics) and M.Kom. (Master of Computer Science).
Master of Digital Business Fisheries
Similar to the Master of Digital Economy program, the Master of Digital Business Fisheries also offers opportunities for students to study digital innovation in the context of the fishing industry and marine ecology. This dual-degree program combines business strategies with data analysis and statistics. At the end of the two-year postgraduate program, students will be awarded the degrees of M.Kom. (Master of Computer Science) and M.Pi. (Master of Fisheries) after completing their research thesis.
Master of Marine Digital Technology
Students will study digital transformation concepts, international marine conservation laws, marine biodiversity complexities, and conservation economics. They will then integrate this knowledge to be applied in data-based risk management, pollution management, climate change mitigation, and remote sensing. Graduates of this program will receive the degrees of M.Kel. (Master of Marine Science) and M.Kom. (Master of Computer Science) after fulfilling all curriculum requirements, including the thesis, within two years.
