Jakarta, 5 January– The journey toward a more sustainable campus at BINUS University recorded a new milestone with the university securing 33rd place in Indonesia and 244th worldwide in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025.

This accomplishment reaffirms our long-term commitment to sustainability, embedded in both campus operations and academic programs. Over the past three years, this approach has translated into consistent national ranking improvements from 80th in 2023, to 37th in 2024, and 33rd in 2025. The upward trend reflects how sustainability is increasingly shaping our policies, infrastructure, and everyday campus practices.

“Being recognized as one of Indonesia’s most sustainable campuses in the latest UI GreenMetric World University Rankings shows our strong commitment to sustainability, driven by the collective efforts carried out by all Binusians to develop an educational ecosystem that is academically outstanding and deeply committed to environmental responsibility. We believe education has a strategic role in driving positive change, equipping future generations to contribute to a more sustainable future,” said Rector Nelly.

Her remarks on the role of universities in driving positive change align closely with BINUS University’s commitment to incorporating sustainability practices into our academics and campus operations. This vision reflects the purpose of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, established by Universitas Indonesia in 2010, which evaluates sustainability across six areas: infrastructure, energy and climate action, waste and water management, transportation, and education and research.

Participation from thousands of universities worldwide in 2025 has established UI GreenMetric as a global standard for sustainability in higher education. For BINUS University, this serves as both recognition and motivation to strengthen our long-term commitment. Going forward, we are determined to integrate sustainability more deeply into our core activities such as learning and teaching, research, and community engagement, ensuring that the benefits are felt not only within the university but across society.
