The project was showcased at the BINUS Sustainability event held at the Plaza Atrium of our Anggrek Campus as part of the university’s “Road to 45 Years” celebration. The event gathered students, faculty, and staff to display their impactful prototypes, products, and services that demonstrate the institution’s commitment to sustainable development.
As more Indonesians adopt sustainable lifestyles, a recent study by Putri and Riorini (2023) highlights that individuals in their 20s to late 30s with knowledge of green apparel tend to respond positively toward sustainable fashion and are willing to share this awareness digitally to encourage wider public understanding.
“Our goal is to empower those who wear our garment to express their identity confidently while promoting responsible consumption and embody both sustainability values and cultural uniqueness,” shared Naomi and Shanelle in highlighting the vision and mission behind SANANE.

This growing movement inspired Naomi and Shannele to shape the brand, emphasizing the importance of personal expression and inclusivity through genderless design. They also upcycled discarded materials to reduce waste and preserve local heritage, while incorporating the latest trends.
Both designers are working to increase their brand’s visibility through extensive marketing on social media and other offline engagement as part of their long-term strategy. They hope to inspire young Indonesian consumers and beyond to take pride in products that embody sustainability values.
Furthermore, the university actively promotes a global outlook through its Entrepreneurship Centre (BEC) and BINUS Incubator, offering comprehensive entrepreneurship education supported by specialized coaching, entrepreneurial exhibitions, and expert-led sessions. The BINUS Incubator further enhances this with its unique Startup Readiness Level framework, multi-campus coaching, and dedicated industry mentoring, all carefully designed to help student ventures achieve sustainable growth and success even after their initial incubation.

Lastly, the university reaffirms its dedication to promoting an entrepreneurial spirit through an innovative curriculum and diverse activities, allowing students to turn their visions into reality as a key strategic focus. Initiatives like SANANE show how academic creativity can impact industries, benefit communities, and help build a more sustainable future.
