Introduction
KOYA, is a web based app that offers a new way to write restaurants & food reviews that also integrates basic features of social media.
Target Audience
KOYA’s Target Audience are primarily Gen-Z and those who are interested in culinary exploration. Koya is made for those who wants to discover new restaurants while engaging and meeting new people along the way.
Validation Method
To validate the KOYA app several methods are implemented:
- User surveys,User surveys are conducted to gather user feedback and insights on areas for improvement.
- Prototype Testing, doing internal testing on features and responsiveness
- Data Accuracy Checks, Verify and check for opening hours, traffic and menu items update
Data & Insight
Based on user feedback, most demand for an enhanched discovery and recommendation feature for restaurants rather than doing manual searches.
User suggested prioritizing restaurant displays and names rather than content of reviews on the main page to improve clarity.
Addressing unpolished data and anomalies such as location tag not showing on some restaurants.
Challenges Encountered
Challenges we encountered while developing KOYA are as such:
- Data accuracy and consistency, finding data that is accurate and up to date.
- Balancing features, integrating multiple features while trying to keep the UI simple and intuitive.
- Brand awareness, lack of brand awareness and limited recognition makes it hard to attract early adopters.
Actionable Outcome
Some actionable outcome we can do to KOYA:
- Service Optimization, optimize code for service.
- Feature Improvement, add more needed features.
- Improve Reach, add more restaurants from more locations.
- Restaurant Discoverability, user are able to see nearby restaurants tailored to their location.
Conclusion
KOYA is a web based application that combines restaurant and food reviews with features of social media to support and improve culinary discovery and social interaction especially amongs Gen-Z and food enthusiasts.
Based on our validation through surverys, prototype testing and data checks, we can conclude we need to improve some aspects of the App such as discovery, UI, and more consistent data quality.
Challenges faced during developments are insights on where we need improve, by optimizing, widening coverage, and enhancing key features, KOYA has the potential to improve into a bigger brand.
