Jevanuz Nathanael Nagaria
Hello! My name is Jevanuz Nathanael Nagaria, an alumnus of the Business Hotel Management program at BINUS University @Bekasi (BINUSIAN 2023). My time in the BHM program was defined by hands-on practice, empowering faculty support, and learning how to turn every challenge into a stepping stone for professional growth. My ambition to compete was first sparked back in 2019, when I helped my BHM seniors practice for their culinary competitions. That early exposure inside the campus labs motivated me to eventually test my own limits on a national stage.
That opportunity arrived at the 4th La Cuisine 2022 at the SIAL InterFOOD Expo, where I decided to challenge myself in the Indonesia Spice Up the World category. Although my personal background was rooted mostly in Western culinary techniques, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone to master traditional Indonesian flavor profiles. Throughout a month and a half of intensive preparation, our Head of Program, Ms. Rachel, and mentor, Chef Nurul, stood firmly behind me providing world-class facility access, guidance, and continuous encouragement.
While I walked away with a diploma rather than a medal, the experience proved to be an invaluable milestone in my career. Receiving direct, constructive feedback from expert judges gave me deep insights into refining my flavor composition and technical execution. What makes BINUS Business Hotel Management truly unique is that it teaches you more than just how to win it instills the resilience, humility, and mindset needed to thrive in the real hospitality industry. BHM empowered me to view every evaluation as fuel for continuous learning, proving that success is an ongoing journey of dedication and self-improvement.
