About the Program

The Research Short Course in Advanced Medical Informatics and Engineering for Affordable and Accessible Health Technology is a multidisciplinary capacity-building program that brings together researchers, academics, healthcare professionals, and innovators to explore cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI), medical informatics, biomedical engineering, and affordable health technology.

Through expert-led lectures, case discussions, and collaborative workshops, participants will gain insights into developing ethical, scalable, and clinically relevant health innovations, while fostering interdisciplinary research collaboration and international partnerships to support accessible, sustainable, and impactful healthcare solutions aligned with Indonesia’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

Course Modules

Module 1 — Advanced AI in Medical Informatics and Engineering
Delivered by BINUS HealthTech Advanced Laboratory (BINUS University) & Teknologi Kedokteran ITS

Topics covered include multimodal medical data processing (signal, image, and text), advanced machine learning techniques (LLMs, domain adaptation, few-shot learning, AI compression models), hardware-software product deployment, and ethical and explainable AI.

Module 2 — Clinical Application Across Specialties
Delivered by IMERI FK UI

Topics covered include clinical needs and real-world use cases, clinical-grade data requirements, healthcare system integration and data interoperability, clinical trial safety and validation standards, human-AI collaboration in clinical workflows, and regulatory and ethical considerations.

Module 3 — Affordable Health Technology
Delivered by Leuven Center for Affordable Health Technology, KU Leuven Belgium

Topics covered include frugal innovation and cost-aware engineering, edge technology, scalable digital health platforms, implementation in low-resource settings, and accessibility, equity, and impact evaluation.

Module 4 — Research Collaboration Chamber
Delivered by BINUS HealthTech Advanced Laboratory (BINUS University)

An interactive workshop focused on identifying emerging research trends in medical informatics and engineering, and facilitating potential research collaborations among participants with aligned expertise and funding interests.
