Vernacular Architecture Residential in Lasem with Batik Pattern Latohan in Interior

Abstract

Indonesia has lots of batik culture. Every area has their own specific batik pattern. One of famous batik industry with specific batik pattern is Lasem. This specific Lasem pattern need to preserved for sustainability purpose. This study tried to applied latohan as one of special pattern in Lasem to residential interior. The purpose of this study is to maintain the sustainability of the batik Lasem pattern. In line with the Lasem vernacular building which is used as a case study. The building has been qualified as a green building and a sustainable building. The application of batik pattern in interior house in line with the goal of preservation, both building and interior. The research problem statement is how to applied latohan Lasem batik pattern into residential building for sustainable purpose. The research objective is to applied latohan pattern in interior as sustainable system in vernacular architecture residential locating in Lasem. This research is using qualitative method. Hendry’s family residence as a case study to applied latohan Lasem in the interior. This house is a good old colonial building with green architecture. The result of this study that vernacular architecture residential building is a suitable place to applied specific latohan pattern according for sustainable purposed.
