Abstrac: cigarette manufacturers and creative teams to work hard to create a cigarette commercial that can attract consumers’ attention. This is the reason why many cigarette manufacturers show scenes laden with local culture elements in their commercials as an effort to bring their products closer to the consumers. Local culture-themed commercials beginning to bloom on the television aim not only to preserve Indonesian local cultural values but also to protect them from being claimed by other countries. This research aims to get an overview of an alleged exploitation of Sumbawa local culture in Dji Sam Soe cigarette commercial Mahakarya Indonesia 2016 version. The research method used here is semiotic analysis with approaches from Roland Barthes, which are linguistics and connotative and denotative iconic message. Several vital scenes indicate practices of exploitation of Sumbawa local culture in the advertisement. These practices of local culture exploitation are marked by the emergence of scenes where Sumbawa people work together to build boats and houses (denotation), a long-time characteristic of Indonesian society, along with verbal and written message (linguistics) shown through the back sound of a man saying,“From the youths to the elders, to the youths.”and “One Nusantara collaborate to create an effort in which equal burden is bore on the shoulders!”.These sentences send both denotative and connotative messages that are important to be analyzed further.

The lack of media innovation in lithography flat printing techniques has resulted in the process being identical to the use of limestone stones as a reference for images, while the existence of these stones is quite difficult to obtainand quite rare in Indonesia. This has resulted in fewer and fewer artists and designers who are using the lithography technique in the design world. The use of aluminum foilpaper which can be reacted with certain coloring agents, raises the idea to apply the new lithography technique on aluminum foil paper media known as kitchen lithograpytechnique. This study focused on the experimental stage and exploration of aluminumfoil paper kitchen lithograpy on flat printing techniques as a design expression media. The resulf of this rescach is this technigue recommended as espression media on graphic reproduction method because of not using hazardous metenal and the production process is more effizient and easy.

The participants were eight students from three public vocational schools in Semarang, Central Java. This study adopted a qualitative descriptive method to explore vocational students’ perceptions of digital reading in times of COVID-19 pandemic. Data were gathered through an online semi-structured interview, in which the recording was transcribed and analyzed from the lens of multimodality. The study revealed that during the pandemic, vocational school students reported their difficulties in reading vocational materials in digital files, especially in the portable document format (pdf). The major influencing factors were the rigidity of learning materials in the pdf, the lack of peer interactions after digital reading, and the teachers’ pedagogical moves that might obstruct the development of digital reading skills. In contrast, this study reported that students utilized a plethora of digital media, websites, and applications, including Tiktok, Instagram, Wattpad, and Webtoon to read a wide variety of topics that capture their interests, from social, politics, economics, and romance. This study underlines the importance of enhancing student skills in digital reading in vocational subjects by utilizing various digital media.

So, in a simply way, every song could be understood as a result of the musicalization of poetry. Based on that statement, the researcher would to analyze a song entitled “Dalam Hitungan”, which has been popularized by.Feast, one of the Indonesian music group. The lyrics contained inside of that song explicitly convey the satire toward the modern human lifestyle, which tends to be controlled by social media. Therefore, the researcher would to conduct a special study of the satire style contained inside of the lyric of “Dalam Hitungan” in this research. So, the researcher could to analyze the alienation process which exists in the lyric of that song, then describing it as the final results that related on the development of popular culture.
