The Digital Business Study Program at BINUS @Semarang reaffirmed its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation through the organization of Funding Frontiers 2026, themed “Unlocking Growth: Connecting Innovation with Funding Opportunities.” Held on June 6, 2026, at the BINUS @Semarang Atrium, the event provided a platform for students to connect innovative business ideas with practical insights into startup funding and business development.

Funding Frontiers 2026 was organized as part of the Start-up Funding & Venture Capital Strategies course and involved students from the B28 cohort of the Digital Business Study Program. Through this initiative, students gained hands

-on experience in understanding key aspects of startup financing, including opportunity identification, business model development, business prospectus preparation, fundraising strategies, and professional pitching skills.

The event commenced with an opening session attended by students, faculty members, business practitioners, and representatives from the Semarang City Government. Participants were encouraged to view entrepreneurship not only as the creation of innovative ideas but also as the ability to transform those ideas into sustainable and scalable business opportunities.

A key highlight of the event was the startup pitching session, where student teams presented their business prospectuses to a panel of judges consisting of business practitioners and representatives from the Semarang City Government. Each team was given the opportunity to explain the problem they aimed to solve, the solutions they proposed, their business model, market opportunities, growth strategies, and funding requirements.

The business prospectus served as more than an academic assignment. It represented an initial simulation of the fundraising process that startups typically undertake when seeking external support and investment. Through this experience, students learned how to effectively communicate their value proposition, market opportunities, revenue models, growth plans, and funding needs in a structured and compelling manner.

Throughout the event, participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm and professionalism. The judges conducted comprehensive evaluations of each proposal while providing constructive feedback regarding business feasibility, market validation, sustainability, and future growth potential. These interactions allowed students to gain valuable insights from professionals with real-world experience in business development and entrepreneurship.

Beyond serving as an academic exercise, Funding Frontiers 2026 also provided students with exposure to individuals involved in business development and investment ecosystems. Business prospectuses demonstrating strong market potential, clear value propositions, and promising growth opportunities attracted considerable attention from stakeholders. In cases where ideas aligned with stakeholder interests, the event created opportunities for future discussions regarding collaboration, mentorship, and business development support.

This aspect of the program offered students an authentic experience of how startup ventures engage with external stakeholders, build credibility, and communicate their vision to potential supporters. As a result, participants gained a deeper understanding of the realities of startup fundraising beyond what can be learned through classroom instruction alone.

To recognize outstanding performance, the event concluded with awards for the most promising teams and business ideas presented during the pitching competition. These recognitions served as motivation for students to continue developing their entrepreneurial mindset, innovation capabilities, and business communication skills.

Through Funding Frontiers 2026, the Digital Business Study Program continues to strengthen experiential learning by bridging academic knowledge with practical application. The event reflects the program’s commitment to preparing future entrepreneurs, innovators, and business leaders who are capable of transforming ideas into viable ventures while navigating the increasingly dynamic and competitive entrepreneurial landscape.
