Tangerang, \u00a026 June 2026 <\/strong>\u2013 This year, one of the world’s leading sustainability forums was held right on BINUS’ doorstep. Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026<\/a>, organized by Times Higher Education (THE), took place from 22\u201325 June at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang, just minutes from our Alam Sutera Campus<\/a>. Having participated in the congress in the last four years, we seized this unique opportunity to bring a larger delegation to engage directly with international leaders and experts from higher education, government, industry, intergovernmental organizations, and local communities.<\/p>\n

Led by Dr. Rini Setiowati, Vice-Rector for Collaboration & Global Engagement, our delegation used the four-day congress to exchange insights, build relationships, and explore potential collaborations in sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy actively participating in international sustainability forums such as GSDC, we are able to expand our collaboration with global stakeholders and strengthen our commitment to embedding sustainability into daily life across our campuses. By identifying shared priorities and combining institutional strengths, we can develop strategic and sustainable partnerships in learning, research, community engagement, and institutional practices,\u201d <\/em>shared Vice-Rector Rini during a meeting with partners at the exhibition hall.<\/p>\n

Our strong presence showed how seriously we approach sustainability as an institutional priority. It reflected our ongoing efforts to turn plans into action, strengthen collaboration across the BINUS community, and work more closely with external partners to create a broader impact for society.<\/p>\n

These collective efforts have led us to gain significant progress in global recognition. In the latest THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, announced on 24 June 2026, BINUS rises into the global Top 200, ranked in the 101\u2013200 band<\/a>. This marked a significant rise from our Top 400 position in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cBreaking into the global 101\u2013200 band of the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 is a proud moment for BINUS, but it is also a call to keep moving forward. This recognition reflects how sustainability has become part of the way we learn, research, collaborate, serve communities, and grow together. Through Catur Dharma, we continue to transform knowledge into impact and connect our work with real needs beyond campus. As we celebrate our 45th year, this achievement reminds us that our vision is built through collective effort, with Binusians, partners, and communities working together to co-create an intelligent society,\u201d said Rector Nelly.<\/em><\/p>\n

The recognition also attracts greater interest from congress participants who want to learn more about BINUS’s sustainability journey. Throughout the four impactful days, we held various meetings with leaders from Indonesian and international universities to exchange insights and share best practices. These discussions opened new pathways for collaboration and resulted in new partnerships with National Taiwan University and De La Salle University, the Philippines.<\/p>\n

Extending the momentum from the congress, we also welcomed many global representatives to visit our Alam Sutera and Anggrek campuses. These visits deepened friendships, exchanged interactive dialogue, and opened further discussion on potential collaboration in sustainability.<\/p>\n

For us, participating in a prominent global forum such as GSDC is more than an opportunity to be present on the international stage. It is a way to strengthen institutional collaboration, identify shared commitments, build long-term partnerships, and connect campus-based initiatives with the wider global sustainability movement.<\/p>\n

As this journey continues, BINUS University<\/a> strongly focuses on embedding sustainability into daily actions and long-term institutional efforts. With support from local, regional, and global partners, we will keep contributing to a future that is more sustainable, inclusive, and impactful.<\/p>\n
