Jakarta, 24 October –\u00a0<\/span><\/b>The\u00a0iBuddy\u00a0Community Impact Summit 2025 officially concluded on a high note, with students from our university,\u00a0Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII),\u00a0Universitas\u00a0Padjadjaran, IPB University, and Universitas\u00a0Katolik\u00a0Atma Jaya Jakarta\u00a0showcasing\u00a0their reflections through a project exhibition at our\u00a0Anggrek\u00a0Campus. This event served as a celebration of collaborative spirit and of our international\u00a0buddies’\u00a0ongoing development to create impact.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before\u00a0arriving at our campus, the participants had the opportunity to visit West Java, stopping at Universitas\u00a0Padjadjaran\u00a0in\u00a0Jatinangor\u00a0and IPB University in Bogor. They attended a design thinking workshop at Alam Sutera and took part in learning activities at\u00a0Girirejo. The students collaborated with the community in\u00a0Jatiroke\u00a0Village to develop sustainable coffee plantations, promote eco-tourism in the\u00a0Sukajadi\u00a0Village near the\u00a0Geulis\u00a0Mountain\u00a0region, and enhance the digital systems at\u00a0Posyandu\u00a0Kenari 3.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Jatiroke\u00a0Village, the\u00a0iBuddy\u00a0realized that there is a strong link between producing high-quality coffee beans and adopting sustainable practices. Despite limited\u00a0coffee-processing\u00a0equipment\u00a0and\u00a0a\u00a0heavy\u00a0reliance on rainfall, there is\u00a0great potential\u00a0to produce premium coffee while promoting environmentally friendly\u00a0practices.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe locals taught us how to plant and process coffee sustainably,\u201d said Daniel Obeng from UII.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Using\u00a0information from the community, the\u00a0iBuddy\u00a0proposed several solutions that farmers can implement to improve their product, such as\u00a0developing\u00a0<\/span>small-scale irrigation systems<\/span><\/b>\u00a0to ensure consistent water access and\u00a0maintain\u00a0output.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI also realized that there is potential to promote this location as a tourist destination! We suggested branding the product as\u00a0Gunung\u00a0Geulis\u00a0Coffee and using digital marketing to reach a wider audience,\u201d added Daniel.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the beautiful scenery and pristine nature, our\u00a0iBuddies\u00a0saw an opportunity to expand eco-tourism\u00a0at\u00a0Sukajadi\u00a0Village\u00a0to the world.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe\u00a0Sukajadi\u00a0village implements unique yet sustainable agriculture systems that others can learn about through eco-tourism activities. For example, the\u00a0<\/span>minapadi<\/span><\/i>\u00a0technique enables the community to grow rice and fish,\u201d said Lilis\u00a0Sucahyo,\u00a0M.Si., a Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical and Biosystems Engineering at IPB University during his lecture to introduce the community.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From home stay to integrated tour packages such as hiking, cycling, and local cooking workshops, visitors can immerse themselves while enjoying themselves without hurting nature. A perfect initiative that balances economic growth and ecological protection!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It would be incomplete without addressing the challenge faced by\u00a0Posyandu\u00a0Kenari 3 in improving health data monitoring due to outdated infrastructure and medical tools. The program is vital because it offers a range of general medical services such as growth monitoring, vaccinations, nutrition checks, prenatal care, and elderly healthcare that promote a healthy community.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn this program, we don\u2019t aim to educate the community as we will learn much from them as well,\u00a0so we can improve its system and sustain its efforts,\u201d said\u00a0Alfiasari, S.P.,\u00a0M.Si,\u00a0as the\u00a0Deputy Director of Managing International Education\u00a0at\u00a0IPB University.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Buddies realized that\u00a0training the medical\u00a0staff\u00a0might be the most practical solution to ensure they can provide the highest\u00a0level of\u00a0service\u00a0to\u00a0the community.\u00a0With\u00a0additional\u00a0funding, they might want to consider upgrading the waiting areas and other locations to improve their comfort and accessibility.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To sum up, the experience\u00a0with\u00a0iBuddies\u00a0throughout\u00a0the program\u00a0shows\u00a0that\u00a0sustainable change begins with empathy, partnership, and shared purpose.\u00a0They realized that\u00a0students have an opportunity to\u00a0create a global impact by empowering communities, protecting the environment, and inspiring future changemakers across Indonesia.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
