Implementation of the Guideline is carried out by the Human Capital & Legal Division of Bina Nusantara.

The Guideline stated that there is no discrimination based on religion, gender, sex, or age, and it upholds anti-harassment principles. These are specified in the Guideline’s Article 68: “Engaging in negative actions containing elements of SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations) and/or sexual harassment, in accordance with prevailing societal norms and/or applicable legal provisions.”

Regarding Working Hours and Work Attendance, Article 7 stated: “The determination of working hours within the institution is based on the provisions of each business unit/division, with a minimum of 40 (forty) hours per week.” This is implemented without reducing the provisions regarding working hours as stipulated by applicable laws and regulations, ensuring that no form of modern slavery impinged BINUS employees.

Employees who violate or engage in such negative actions are subject to sanctions, including termination for major violations. Article 57 on Grievances and Complaints defines “Grievance” as any issue felt by employees, whether related to working conditions or terms, whereas “Complaint” is a report submitted by employees regarding working conditions or terms.

Employees with any grievances can present their issue to the top management through the Letters to Leaders website. Employees can also report harassment cases, whether as victims or informants, with guaranteed confidentiality and safety.

In accordance with the Ministry of Manpower’s regulations, BINUS provides fair wages to its employees to meet their financial needs. Article 13 on General Provisions Regarding Compensation stated: “In accordance with applicable income tax regulations, monetary compensation is subject to income tax, which is paid by the institution on behalf of the employee to the State Treasury Office (KKPN).”

Additionally, Article 1 states: “Wages are the right of employees, received and expressed in monetary form as compensation from the institution, determined and paid according to employment agreements, mutual agreements, or applicable laws and regulations.” This is supported by Article 14 on Wage Policy, which specifies “Wage determination is essentially set based on position, performance, expertise, proficiency, and others, as defined in the wage structure/scale according to position and employee grade (Binusian Grade).” These articles ensure that professionalism, fairness, and performance-based assessment are the valid basis for compensation determination.

The articles demonstrate that every employee has the right to receive wages based on position, performance, and competencies, guaranteeing no gender bias in wage scales. Professionalism is the core principle in valuing employee performance regardless of gender. In addition to wages, employees also receive holiday allowances, performance bonuses, overtime pay, sick leave pay and enjoy freedom of expression among colleagues. There is also an Employee Relations program conducted through various activities such as employee gatherings, communication forums, contributions to in-house journals, and more. Furthermore, BINUS employees and lecturers from the Character Building Development Center (CBDC) organize Character Building programs aimed at fostering inclusiveness traits for students through multiculturalism, as well as webinars and training for character education lecturers.

These efforts and commitments have successfully led BINUS University to receive the HR ASIA Most Caring Companies award in 2017, 2020, and 2021.

References:
https://www.binus.edu/connect/website
https://www.binus.edu/connect/website/63/letters-to-leaders
https://communication.binus.ac.id/glossary/employee-relations/
https://binus.ac.id/character-building/
https://binus.ac.id/character-building/2022/08/webminar-cbdc-binus-kontribusi-pendidikan-karakter-di-pt-terhadap-usaha-bela-negara/

BINUS University regulates and implements the Employment Guideline that is applicable for all employees and all business units under BINUS’ management.
