Hal ini ditandai oleh maraknya <em>plaform<\/em> <em>on-line<\/em> seperti Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Trevaloka, Blibli dan sebagainya. Bahkan sektor transportasipun diwarnai oleh adanya kemudahan seperti yang ditawarkan oleh Gojek dan Grab. Perusahaan taksi tradisional seperti Bluebird akhirnya tidak mau ketinggalan dengan juga bekerjasama dengan penyedia jasa transportasi <em>on-line<\/em>. Berbagai bisnis ini merupakan contoh terobosan inisiatif kewirausahaan yang berbeda dengan kewirausahaan tradisional. Ciri utama bisnis ini adalah kuat dan intensnya penggunaan teknologi digital dalam inisiasi maupun pengembangan bisnis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pertemuan antara teknologi digital dan kewirausahaan telah membuka peluang baru dalam berusaha. Pertemuan keduanya melahirkan kewirausahaan baru yang sering juga disebut sebagai kewirausahaan digital atau <em>digital entrepreneurship<\/em>. Kewirausahaan digital mencakup saat inisiasi bisnis maupun tahap pengembangan atau transformasi bisnis lebih lanjut, yang dicirikan oleh intensnya penggunaan teknologi digital dalam pengembangan produk baru, pengoperasian, model bisnis, pengalaman pelanggan, dan lain-lain.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Manfaat teknologi digital dalam kewirausahaan yaitu mengubah atau mentransformasi proses, <em>outcome<\/em> dan juga tempat dimana inisiasi bisnis terjadi. Penelitian di bidang kewirausahaan digital relatif masih terbatas, sehingga memberi peluang besar untuk melakukan penelitian di bidang baru ini. Pada saat yang bersamaan, praktek kewirausahaan digital berkembang sangat pesat yang ditandai keberadaan <em>plaform<\/em> digital di berbagai sektor.
