Desain adalah proses. Hal ini terus ditekankan kepada para desainer komunikasi visual untuk mengandalkan proses desain sebagai orientasi utamanya selain hasil. Terdapat beberapa pendekatan dalam memproses desain. Salah satunya adalah proses desain yang dipaparkan oleh Robin Landa. Dalam bukunya berjudul “Graphic Design Solution” (2011), Robin Landa memaparkan 5 fase dalam proses desain. Fase tersebut adalah orientation<\/em>,\u00a0analysis<\/em>,\u00a0concepts<\/em>,\u00a0design<\/em>, dan\u00a0implementation<\/em>. Kelima tahapan ini merupakan tahapan berjenjang dan bertingkat. Sehingga masing-masing tahapan harus dilalui untuk mendapatkan hasil yang sesuai.<\/p>\n

Pada materi kali ini tahapan proses desain oleh Robin Landa yang akan dibahas adalah tahap design<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Design<\/h1>\n

Design\u00a0<\/em>adalah tahap dimana konsep desain mulai direalisasikan. Bagi beberapa desainer, tahap desain dapat dilakukan secara non linier. Hal ini dikarenakan para desainer memiliki kebiasannya masing-masing dalam mendesain. Namun diluar proses non linier ini terdapat proses linier yang dapat dilakukan desainer. Hal ini dilakukan agar proses desain sistematik dan terstruktur. Sehingga setiap prosesnya dapat terdokumentasikan dengan baik.<\/p>\n

Berikut ini adalah beberapa langkah\u00a0design\u00a0<\/em>yang dapat diterapkan:<\/p>\n

Thumbnail Sketches<\/em>.<\/h2>\n

Thumbnail sketches\u00a0<\/em>merupakan gambar sederhana dan cepat berukuran kecil.\u00a0Thumbnail sketches\u00a0<\/em>biasanya dibuat dalam mode warna hitam putih. Hal ini karena proses pembuatannya hanya menggunakan pensil atau bolpoin.\u00a0Thumbnail sketches\u00a0<\/em>pun seringkali dibuat dalam beberapa versi hal ini berfungsi sebagai alternatif desain yang ditawarkan.<\/p>\n

Rough<\/em><\/h2>\n

Rough\u00a0<\/em>adalah\u00a0thumbnail sketches\u00a0<\/em>dalam versi yang lebih detail, besar dan lengkap. Tujuan dari pembuatan\u00a0rough\u00a0<\/em>adalah sebagai\u00a0preview\u00a0<\/em>kasar dari desain yang dibuat. Bila thumbnail sketches <\/em>memperlihatkan beberapa alternatif, maka pada tahap rough<\/em>, proses penggarapan adalah pada satu desain terpilih pada tahap thumbnail sketches <\/em>tersebut. Rough\u00a0<\/em>pun dapat dibuat dengan pendekatan montase, gambar, digital, dan lain-lain. Fokus utama dari\u00a0rough\u00a0<\/em>adalah hasil desain sesuai dengan konsep desain. Pada tahap ini pun desain mulai dibuat secara lebih realistis baik dalam alternatif warna,\u00a0font<\/em>, dan lain-lain.<\/p>\n

Comprehensives<\/em><\/h2>\n

Tahap\u00a0comprehensive\u00a0<\/em>adalah tahap dimana sketsa kasar (rough<\/em>) mulai di visualisasikan secara digital. Tahap ini pun desain mulai diperlihatkan dalam bentuk\u00a0mock-up <\/em>atau\u00a0dummy<\/em>.\u00a0Mock-up <\/em>adalah maket atau semacam preview <\/em>ketika suatu desain direalisasikan. Pada tahap ini mock-up <\/em>masih berpotensi untuk dievaluasi. Sehingga ketika terdapat kesalahan dalam desain dapat segera ditindaklanjuti.<\/p>\n

Meskipun langkah diatas bukanlah sebuah hukum pasti dalam mendesain, namun langkah-langkah tersebut dapat mempermudah proses desain yang dilakukan oleh seorang desainer. Agar proses desain sistematik dan terstruktur, langkah-langkah desain di atas dapat diterapkan. Sehingga proses desain yang dilakukan dapat dipresentasikan dan di dokumentasikan dengan baik.<\/p>\n
