Di sinilah <em>astroturfing<\/em> berperan. <em>Astroturfing<\/em> adalah praktik menciptakan ilusi dukungan masyarakat luas terhadap suatu isu atau produk, padahal sebenarnya digerakkan oleh organisasi atau kelompok tertentu tanpa mengungkap afiliasi aslinya. Contohnya, perusahaan membayar individu untuk menulis ulasan positif agar terlihat seperti dukungan alami dari konsumen biasa.
