Jakarta, 8 June 2026 – As part of its ongoing work on Indonesia’s Just Energy Transition, BINUS Center of Excellence in Sustainability (BIC-SUS) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Friday, 5 June, at JWC Campus. The session brought together representatives from KPMG Siddharta Advisory, PT Ever Shine Tex Tbk, Krealogi, OECD, Rantai Tekstil Lestari, Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia/Deloitte, the Energy Transition and Sustainability Division of PLN, Candra Naya Lestari, Indosat, and Deloitte.

Continuing the dialogue initiated in October 2025, this year’s FGD reflected BIC-SUS’ ongoing effort to bring together cross-sector perspectives on Indonesia’s just energy transition.  

“This year’s FGD looked more closely at how Indonesia can translate policy ambition into more coordinated and accountable implementation. The discussion also contributed to the white paper development process, with the publication expected to be launched at the end of the year,” noted Dr. Marko S. Hermawan, BIC-SUS’s Coordinator of Operations and Management.

The presence of representatives from consulting, textile and manufacturing, digital platforms, international organizations, accounting and assurance, energy, and telecommunications also highlighted the complexity of Indonesia’s just energy transition. The issue is not only related to energy systems, but also to industrial readiness, sustainability reporting, data governance, financing, technology, and the capacity of different actors to move from commitment to implementation.

In addition to the discussion, we also introduced the direction of the Bic-Sus Integrated Sustainability Intelligence Platform (BISIP), a proposed platform that could support sustainability data management, monitoring, reporting, verification, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, analytics, benchmarking, and research collaboration.

Rather than serving as a one-time discussion, the FGD reflects BIC-SUS’ continuing role as a research-based convener that connects academic insight with practical perspectives from industry and other stakeholders. Through this process, BIC-SUS aims to support the development of more relevant, evidence-based, and actionable recommendations for Indonesia’s just energy transition.

The insights gathered from the FGD will be further synthesized as part of the white paper development process, which is expected to be released by the end of the year. This publication will contribute to broader conversations on sustainability, energy transition, and collaborative implementation in Indonesia.
