The Future of Interfaith Youth: Are We Inclusive?

Character Building Development Center (CBDC)- Binus University, in collaboration with Yayasan Bela Negara Indonesia (Beneran Indonesia) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, conducted an Interfaith Dialogue Program. These full-day interactive events are conducted in the Fx Campus Auditorium at Binus International, Senayan Campus.
The morning session began with an opening remark from Dr. Frederikus Fios, S.Fil., M.Th., CBDC Manager and The Representative from Kemenpora. Followed by a dialogue titled “The Future of Interfaith Youth: Are We Inclusive?“. The conversation was moderated by a moderator and featured four speakers representing Beneran Indonesia, IPNU, Buddha NSI, and Binus University.
- Dr. Avia Destimianti, M.Ed. (a Co-founder and The Director of Beneran Indonesia).
- Js. Kristan (a Faculty Member of Character Building and a Member of the Expert Council of the Indonesian Supreme Council of Confucianism (MATAKIN))
- Samantha Surya, M.Sc. (a Youth Leader – Buddhist Nichiren Syosyu Indonesia (Buddha NSI)).
- H. Sulkifli Azis, S.Pd. (The Vice President of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (PP IPNU)).

This morning session was attended via Zoom by 50 character-building faculty members, and 65 participants came to the Auditorium FX Campus, representing Binus International students and youth from 12 Interfaith Communities:
- Buddha NSI
- Pemuda Katolik
- Gema Pakti Jakarta (Penghayat Kepercayaan)
- Global Peace Foundation (organisasi edukasi perdamaian)
- Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam
- Perkumpulan Muda-Mudi Hindu Tangerang
- Keluarga Mahasiswa Hindu Dharma Indonesia
- Majelis Tinggi Agama Konghucu & Pemuda Agama Konghucu Indonesia
- Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia DKI Jakarta
- Paguyuban Sumarah DKI Jakarta
- Remaja Islam Sunda Kelapa
- Lembaga Dakwah Kampus Al-Azzam Universitas Budi Luhur

In the afternoon session, these youth participants participated in a forum group discussion (FGD) to formulate recommendations to the Government of Indonesia. Five faculty members led the FGDs. The FGD covered four issues related to interfaith youth: equal access for all, safe and creative spaces, character education and collaboration, and the well-being and protection of vulnerable youth. The Youth Interfaith Program was completed after the youth groups presented their public policy recommendations to the panelists.
