Public Speaking Training was held by the HRD Division and Student Development Center with the theme “Dare to Speak Up” on April 17, 2021. This training was held to train the participants in the basics of public speaking to have a better performance in an organizational environment. Public Speaking Training was split into two batches. The first batch was held at 9-11 A.M. with Ms. Margaretha as the trainer while the second batch was at 1-3 P.M. with Mr. Jannus as the trainer. Both trainers were the representative from SDC.
The training started with an ice-breaking session where the trainers presented some riddle for the participants to solve. The trainers then continued with the training materials where they talked about the basics of public speaking, such as the types of public speaking, the importance of body language, and audience engagement. They also explained ways for the participants to increase their confidence in a situation where they need to speak publicly. Lastly, before distributing the participants into a few different Breakout Rooms, the trainers presented a video about public speaking.
After the video, the training continued into the coaching session where the participant would be distributed into a different Breakout Rooms. In the Breakout Rooms, they would present the pre-works that the participants have prepared before the training while applying things they’ve learned during the training session. After their presentation, the participants would receive feedback from the other participants and the coach on the Breakout Room.
