BSSC Cadre Forming 2024 “A New Start: Breaking The Barriers”
The BSSC 13th Presidency has come to an end, which marks the start of a whole new presidency, the 14th Presidency. Starting a new presidency means opening a new opportunity for every BINUS Square Boarder to expand their organizational experience with BSSC. BSSC Cadre Forming is an event designed to prepare candidates to face the world of student organization. The theme of this year’s Cadre Forming is “A Whole New Start: Breaking the Barriers” as it is hoped that all the candidates will break through their own barriers and limitations through joining BSSC. This year, BSSC Cadre Forming takes place from the 1st to 3rd of February 2024. The first day was done in Oak Room, one of BINUS Square’s meeting rooms, while the third day was done in BINUS Syahdan Campus.
On the first day, we invited three astonishing and inspirational speakers to share their knowledge surrounding organizational mindset and partnership, who are Mr. Aditia Perdana and Ms. Cecillia Astri from the Program Development Center (PDC) at BINUS Square and Ms. Umu Amalia from the BINUS Student Support Office (SSO). Along with our moderator, Anastasia, we discussed many things about having an organizational mindset and how it would be useful throughout our organizational life with Mr. Adit and Ms. Umu in our first talk show. They shared many things about how organizational mindset is formed and how it is useful in not only an organizational domain but also in professional domains, such as their daily workspace. On the second talk show, we discussed some tips and tricks on handling partnership in an organization with Ms.Cecil, and she specifically mentioned how partnership plays an important role in every organization and general technicalities on how to build a good partnership.
After the talk show, candidates were given some projects to finish. Before that, the candidates were divided into groups, each group consisting of six people with a team advisor from BSSC. The first and the second task was to make an event blueprint and a poster related to the event. In the third task, each group was asked to discuss the list of study cases given. There were eight cases in total, including questions of specific scenarios and tasks that required the candidates to contact parties outside BSSC.
The second day was a day when they were assigned to finish all their group tasks, and they had to submit them by 11 p.m. Each team advisor would supervise their team’s progress making sure they were getting the help needed.
On the third and final day, the candidates had some activities to be done. The first activity was a group project presentation. Each group was given 15 minutes for the blueprint, poster, and study case presentation. After each presentation, there was a feedback session for 10, and 5 minutes respectively by the jury, which included Kent Alber Fredson, Chairman of BSSC 14th Presidency, and Kezia Santoso, Chairman of BSSC 13th Presidency.
The second activity was all about games and refreshments. We played a total of three games, Mingle Puzzle, Sticky Tricky, and Focus Focus Focus. Mingle Puzzle is a game where each group chooses a picture, and later are given a random set of puzzles that each group has to pick and combine the pieces according to the picture they choose. Sticky Tricky is a guessing game, where each member of the group has one sticky note on their forehead with random words, and one representative that’s allowed to give clues about the words without saying it or adding some gestures. The last game is Focus Focus Focus, where the objective of the game is to insert a marker into a one liter bottle, with the twist that the marker is tied to all the group members’ waist while each facing the opposite direction. There’s one group representative that is allowed to give instructions to the rest of the members. The fastest one to insert it wins. Besides the main games, there were also some challenges as side quests. At the end of the event, we close the games session with an appreciation session and winner announcements. There were three nominations, the fastest, the uproarious, and the overall best team. The winner for the uproarious group and the overall best team was Group 3, and for the fastest group winner is Group 4. The best team’s score was calculated based on their project on some criteria; hence, they were given exclusive merchandise, which were BSSC’s bottles.
Overall, the event ended successfully. The candidates enthusiastically participated listening in on the talk show on the first day, about organizational mindset and partnership. Some of them took notes from the talk show, and also learned valuable insights. On the second day, the candidates were also active in discussion with their group about the projects and presentation. Lastly on the third day, the candidates were asked to present their work, and after that they had so much fun playing games while getting to know their comrades. With the success of BSSC Cadre Forming 2024: “A New Start: Breaking The Barriers,” this will mark as a promising new beginning for the BSSC 14th Presidency.
