Japanese Language Class
Language class is one of the annual events that the Culture Division of BSSC has reopened, one of which is the Japanese Language Class. This year, the Japanese Language Class is attended by 20 participants, including boarders and non-boarders. One of the main purposes of this event is to provide a platform for boarders and non-boarders to learn about the Japanese language and culture.
The Japanese Language Class is taught by Kakeru Uchiyama and Shiori Kikama. Kakeru Uchiyama is in charge of teaching the class. Meanwhile, Shiori Kikama is in charge of the PowerPoint presentation and helping Kakeru Uchiyama in explaining. Both of the tutors are very enthusiastic about teaching. In every lesson, Kakeru Uchiyama is very interactive with the participants, telling a few stories from his daily life as an example of the topic, and reviewing the material from the previous meetings.
Japanese Language Class has a total of four meetings starting from the 20th of March 2021 to the 10th of April 2021, every Saturday from 5 PM to 7 PM. All of the meetings are carried out online; two of which are held on Google Meet and the other two are on ZOOM. In three of the meetings, Kakeru Uchiyama has taught a lot of things to the participants. At the first meeting, there were ways to do self-introductions, greetings, alphabets, numbers, and a few traditional games that are played in Japan. Then, at the second meeting, Kakeru Uchiyama started with a review of the previous meeting which was met with a lot of eager participants. After the review, it is continued with lessons about phrases, slang, and examples of conversations in public places. At the third meeting, Kakeru Uchiyama told more about the culture of Japan; including festivals, currency, culinary, and a Japanese song. At the last meeting, the participants and tutors gathered through Google Meet to watch a Japanese movie together called “Hello World.” The class ended with the impression and gratitude from both tutors and participants.
In conclusion, the class has wrapped up with a lot of memories and knowledge of the Japanese language and culture from the participants and tutors. We hope that the next Japanese Language Class will also be met with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement.
