Turning Dreams Into Realities Seminar

On 6th of December 2017, a seminar with “Turning Dreams Into Realities” as the theme was held at Oak room, BINUS Square. The seminar was delivered by Ms. Karen Imam, the Director of BINUS International. The theme itself was chosen based on the fact that students need more motivation on pursuing their undergraduate life.

From what I have seen daily, students who face a lot of obstacles and barriers, start to lose motivation to keep carrying on pursuing their dreams. Students mostly on their first and second year start to question themselves about their future. Therefore, in this case, motivation and inspiration are needed.

The Re-registration started at 6.30 PM until 7.10 PM, due to some late students. The seminar started directly afterwards with the opening from the MC and followed by the opening speech from the project manager. Before the session started, Ms. Karen asked the students to write down their dreams on a piece of papers, then the seminar was started by the introduction from the speaker. Ms. Karen introduced herself and her personal life, started from her family, her studies, and her career life. From this session, there were some students who got inspired from her life stories. They thought that Ms. Karen’s experience was somehow inspiring and motivating.

Next, Ms. Karen brought up “What Your Future Might Be” as the next topic. Ms. Karen showed how the student’s future might look like, what we should do in the future, and what future’s going to be. This session broaden the mind of the students and give them more knowledge about future and working life. On the last session, Ms. Karen gave them motivation on how to achieve their dreams, how to turn their dreams into realities. And the seminar was closed with a 10 minute motivational video.

After that, a certificate and souvenir were handed to the speaker. This marked the ending of the seminar. Before the seminar was dismissed, we took a group picture altogether with Ms. Karen, the participants and the committee. The seminar was finished by 9 PM.

Overall the seminar ran smoothly, even though there was some inconvenient things happened due to air conditioner that not functioning well. From the students’ reviews, the seminar was quite helpful on motivating them. I, as the project manager, also hope that the seminar could really motivate them and be useful for them in the future.
