L1 – Threat Monitoring Analyst – Contract
Job Requirements :
1. Monitoring of security events received through alerts from SIEM or other security tools
2. Review alerts escalated by the Help desk
3. Performing Level 1 triage of incoming issues
4. Performing initial assessment of the priority of the event (Classification)
5. Performing initial determination of incident to determine risk and damage (Triage)
6. Performing appropriate routing of security or privacy data request and notifying appropriate contact for security events and response (Escalation)
7. Monitoring of alert and downstream dependency’s health
8. Takes an active part in the resolution of incidents, even after they are escalated
9. Work assigned via ticket queue
Technical Competencies :
1. Process and Procedure adherence
2. General network knowledge, TCP/IP Troubleshooting
3. Ability to trace down an endpoint on the network, based on ticket information
4. Familiarity with system log information and what it means
5. Understanding of common network services (web, mail, DNS, authentication)
6. Knowledge of host based firewalls, Anti-Malware, HIDS
7. General Desktop OS and Server OS knowledge
8. TCP/IP, Internet Routing, UNIX / LINUX & Windows NT
Preferred:
1. Security Essentials – SEC401 (GSEC certification) or equivalent
2. Intrusion Detection In Depth – SEC503 (GCIA certification) or equivalent
Recommended:
Continuous Monitoring and Security Operations (optional GMON certification)
